India-Bhutan’s First International Train Journey is Becoming a Reality
The media has reported that the survey to begin constructing the railway link that connects India and Bhutan was finished in April 2023. The railway would connect Kokrajar in India’s Assam to Gelephu in Bhutan.
The Indian government will fund the development of this 57-km railway link, which is supposed to be finished in 2026. It should be mentioned that the Northeastern Frontier (NF) Railways will run the train on this route.The first-ever train service would run between India and Bhutan, and construction is projected to be finished by 2026.
Bhutan’s Foreign Minister Dr. Tandi Dorji stated earlier this year that the country will attempt to establish connections with places like Samtse, Phuentsholing, Nganglam, and Samdrupjongkhar after this project turns becomes successful.
This project between both the countries shows the potential of India relations with bhutan and also India focusing on development of its neighbouring countries.
